Rub-a-dub-dub!

Jack is staying the night with us while Winn and Jen get settled into their new home. Last night the boys got a bath together. I covered up there privates in Photoshop as I don't want my son's pee pee all over the Internet. Plus, he puts other little babies to shame with that thing, so it's best to keep it under wraps if you know what I mean ;)I hope we don't get sick from Jack as he is sick now. I feel like I may be, so I hope Vince does not. Although, if we keep hanging out with Jack, we are bound to get sick as he is always snotty or coughing these days!
Jen and I will be working at a consignment sale on Monday. This sale is huge and it has all kiddie and baby stuff. If you volunteer to work at the sale, you get to shop a day early before the public and get all the good stuff first. We went last year a few days after I got home from the hospital with Vince. I remember I was walking pretty funny (as I was super sore still) and shopping for deals. Oh what we women do to get a deal!

New Play Room

I have re-arranged the game room and made it more of a play room for Vincent. He seems to like it so far. I also set up the computer area for me, so when Vincent plays up here I can do stuff on the computer. This way the family room stays neat and clean and the mess is upstairs rather than down!

Vince is really good at passing his toys from one hand to another. He loves to shake and rattle things too. Those books that crinkle and squeak are getting a ton of use lately as he thinks the sounds they make when he holds them are fantastic! He has been using his paci a lot more lately. I think that is because he is more aware of things now, which makes him more unsure about the world so the paci seems to soothe him. It may be making his teeth feel better too. That one tooth still has not popped all the way up. It is up, but not all the way. I feel like I jumped onto jar foods too soon so we are going to do the flavored cereals first. The squash didn't go over too well with him, so we will go back to it later. He will try the banana flavored cereal early next week, then we will go back to the jars. He is just so advanced with everything else, I thought why not eating?

We went to a play date a few days ago and there is a boy in our group named Trenton who looks similar to Vince. Vince likes him a lot and even gave him kisses! See the pics above...

Vince will throw toys away from him now when he is done playing with them or doesn't want anything to do with it anymore. Same goes for the paci.

Cousin Jack's 2nd Birthday!

Vince had a lot of fun at cousin Jack's 2nd birthday party on Saturday! It was a Disney Cars themed party and I made sure to get Vince a Cars t-shirt to wear. Only problem was I could not find a size small enough so I ended up getting a size 12 month and had Holly, Winn's mom, sew it down to fit Vince. There was a pinata, and after it was opened, I brought Vince over to the ground where all the kiddies were so Vince could fill up the cup with candy (for Mommy and Daddy to eat of course)! Everyone there loved holding Vince since he is such a happy baby! Jack got so many presents that I don't think he even realizes what he got. He did get a bunch of cars and at one point during the party he was carrying around 4-5 cars in his arms. Vince got a goodie bag but his was a modified version as he is much younger than all of the other kids that were there. He got two boats for the bath tub, some socks, a teether, and some baby water shoes for the beach or pool. Which is great because we are putting in pool and now he has a complete pool outfit!

Yesterday, I tried giving Vince real baby food. He has been doing really well with the rice cereal and the doctor said once he has mastered it to try veggies around 5 1/2-6 months. Well, Vince did not like the taste of the squash at all. It was so cute because he would open his mouth every time the spoon came up to it and eat it, but would make a face like "What is this?!! It is not good!". He ended up eating enough of it, and we will try little amounts of it here and there this week.
Vince is doing so well with sitting up too. He leans forward to hold himself in place, but can stay like that for a little while before toppling over! He is also making the motions of crawling while on his tummy. If you place a toy in his view he will try and wiggle his way to it. He also has been really good at rolling over, both from his back to tummy and tummy to back. He's just flippin' and rollin' all over the place!

We've got a tooth coming in!!

Well, it looks like Vince has a tooth coming in! His bottom tooth is just breaking through the surface. Our little baby is growing up so fast!! =(
He hit a lot of milestones this week. On Valentine's Day night, he drank water from a sippy cup by himself. He held the cup with his own hands while drinking from it. He has also been rolling over in his sleep from back to tummy. However, he will wake up in the wee hours of the night because he can't figure out how to get back over! Matt went upstairs twice in the middle of the night and flipped his little butt back over. Vince also reaches out for you when you get near him as he loves to be picked up. He can sit up on his own briefly before tipping to one side. However, most of the time he will just lean forward and go way down to his toes, but still remain seated and upright. He also has a new fascination with his feet and can put them in his mouth. Today he has been playing with his socks and trying to pull those off.
Last night we went to his Aunt Jen and Uncle Winn's house for dinner and it was a crazy night! Vince threw up all over Matt and the kitchen floor, Jack ran circles around his little toy couch, and then both kids were whining and crying at the same time. Must have been a full moon? I don't know, but I am sure the four of us have a lot more of these nice, quite, adult dinners to look forward to right? Ha ha!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Vincent is feeling better after a few days of the antibiotics. In the photos he is holding his new Valentine's Day lovebug he got from Mommy and Daddy and he is wearing the bib Grammy VB got him. He just started sticking his tongue out. I have yet to capture it with the camera, as he wants to smile every time I hold the camera up. Hopefully I can snag one with his tongue out...he looks so funny when he does it. He also started to make a new noise, it's like a happy squeal sort of. He does it when the food it coming his way. Mommy is VERY tired today as Vincent woke up at 4am, 6am and again at 7am. He usually sleeps until 8:15am, but not this morning! I think his ear infection along with a growing spurt and being hungry, kept him up. I fed him breakfast this morning with my eyes closed! I am going to try hard to get a nap in today. I will ignore the house chores if I can.

Ear Infection is back!

Well these past few days Vince has been very fussy. I've just chalked it up to teething, but it turns out his ear infection he had late Jan. never went away! Poor baby was crying all day yesterday and I finally took him to the doctor late last night. He was given two shots of a heavy dosed antibiotic and another prescription of anitbiotics. Hopefully it will get knocked out this time around. We had to leave a play date early yesterday as he just cried and cried the whole time we were there. He cried all the way home and then on and off for hours after that. He had a hard time sleeping. Matt took care of him through the night and Vince finally fell asleep in the swing and slept there all night!

He did start solid foods last Saturday. He loved the rice cereal and even tried to feed himself by holding the spoon in his hand! What a champ! He now has a breakfast of rice cereal and formula and the same for lunch and sometimes dinner. He also sat in his high chair for the first time too. It's great because I can stick toys to the tray and let him play while I clean up the mess from his meals.

Grammy VB came to visit this last week. Vince loved having her spoil him with attention! He gets excited when he sees people his likes and moves all around. I swear he gave her kisses and hugs like he does Matt and I.

We are looking to have a better (and quieter!) day today in hopes that the anitbiotics take effect.

Old Posts

Hi everyone,

I have been writing about Vincent since November, and just recently I have decided to add what I write online in a blog so all of you can read up on little Vincent's life! Here are all of the old posts and check soon for new ones!

Take care,
Amy

Vince is such a great baby!!! Yes, he will cry when he is hungry or wet, but overall a very laid-back little guy. Today he giggled for the first time. He had been smiling for about a week and a half now. I notice that his hands are getting a lot bigger. He has grown overall, but I really notice it in his hands. He is so alert and loves looking around. He can lift one eyebrow up just like mom and grandpa.
When Daddy lifts him up on his legs, he can move his feet up and down and walk. He has strong legs and likes to kick kick kick!
So far, the most he sleeps at night is 4.5-5 hours. Usually between 11pm and 4am. Mommy is still really tired and hopes he will sleep longer once 8-10 weeks hit. He eats 4-5 oz at each feeding cries prior to the feeding. It is funny because when you put the bib on he will stop fussing because he learned that the food is soon to come. He can lift up his head and move it side to side.

We put you in your crib last Saturday night and you slept through the night for the first time! (total of 7 hours!) You’ve been in your own room since then and have slept through the night 3 times. Yeah! If we put him down at 11-11:30 he can go until 6-6:30. Once he wakes up and eats, he will go back down to sleep for another 3-4 hours.
Vince can hold his head up much better now, still a little wobbly, but much better. He giggles and smiles all the time, especially when he sees Daddy. Every morning when I get him out the crib he will zone in on me and smile so big. It’s so worth all the sleepless nights now!
He loves to swing. Grandma Sue said that is all I ever did when I was little was swing and nap. I guess he takes after me in that way. We started watching Baby Einstein and the first time he wasn’t really interested, but lately he will watch it all the way through.
He loves to put his hands in his mouth, not just when he is hungry. Speaking of eating, we have increased the amount he eats. He used to eat 3-4 oz every three hours and has graduated to about 5 oz every 4 hours or so. We are making 6oz and he will sometimes eat more than 5. I am starting not to swaddle him at night. I’ve only tried it last night and did a half-swaddle from the waist down. I am trying to get him used to not needing it. Vince is taking a pacifier a little better now. He still doesn’t love them, but he takes them to soothe himself. His favorite toys are the funny sounds bee plush, Sassy mirror toy, and the Moo Cow plush that moos.
It’s really sad because we’ve had to retire some outfits already. He is growing so fast! He is still very tall and thin with a large head. Just perfect if you ask me!

Vince really laughed today! I know we have said he has already been laughing but this was REALLY laughing. It was awesome! We were at Jen and Winn’s and Matt was playing with him on the floor next to Holly and Jack. He thought something was funny and started laughing! He also lifted up onto his arms during tummy time tonight. He was really angry and crying, but he lifted up! Way to go buddy! This was a definite day of milestones. He also slept 7 hours Friday night and Saturday night. Yippee!

Today Vince got his first boo boo! Daddy and Vince were playing with the toy piano and Daddy dropped it on your head!! You had a little bump over your left eyebrow. You cried a lot! This is the first of many boo boo’s I am sure, but I hope they are all minor ones. Two nights ago you slept 8 hours and 15 minutes—a record! We are waiting for your Grandma and Wes to show up for Thanksgiving weekend and hate to show you off with the bump on your noggin.

11/26/2007

Yesterday Vince held a toy in his hands and chewed on it. Today he bat at his hanging toys. He is definitely getting the hang of things when it come to hand and eye coordination. We put up the Christmas tree and he really likes the lights. He enjoys playing with his Leap Frog toy Tad’s First Feelings. When the toy sings about feeling sad, Vince furrows his brown and frowns! It is so cute!

11/29/2007

Vince is now able to lift his head up with his arms pushed down with our help. Matt propped him up and he was able to stay like that for a little bit. He is such a laid-back guy! Last night we all watched the TV show House and he just sat in Dad’s lap and was relaxin’ looking at the big screen. I can tell how much bigger he is getting. It is sad b/c I love how tiny his feet are and I know they are going to get so much bigger! He is still sleeping though the night. He does take naps during the day and I like to put him on our bed on his tummy for those nap times. I check in on him every ten minutes or so just to make sure he is okay.

I love how Vince’s hair gets all messy in the back. He doesn’t have much hair right now, but I love the little locks that stick out all over the place!

12/14/07

Vince loves to gurgle! He has been gurgling and cooing for weeks now and went on and on the other day. I think he likes the sound he can make. He also likes to imitate you. Matt or I will coo or ahh at him and he will do it back. It’s so cool! He likes when we read books to him, especially Dogs by Sandra Boynton when one dog says “nnn…nnn…nnn”. He laughs at that part. He also likes the book Peek a Baby by Karen Katz. I made him a taggies blankie in two sizes; a small one for now and a larger one for when he gets a little bigger. He really likes them and puts them in his mouth and will hang on to it while he sucks his thumb. I am so glad he likes them since I made them with love. He is spending the night with his Aunt Jen and Uncle Winn tomorrow and we are so excited to spend time alone together! I am sure he will have fun with Jack. He sleeps well at night and usually takes a morning nap about one hour after he gets up. He can nap for about 2-3 hours on our bed, tummy down so his head stays pretty and round!

1/9/08

It’s been a while since I have wrote, and Vince has changed so much that I hope I can remember everything I need to write down!
As far as talking goes, he is more verbal. Just chattin’ away while we drive somewhere to talking to Dad and Gram a bunch. He now says “Gee Gee” and gurgles a lot. He can also say “oh”. He thinks Gram is absolutely hilarious and loves to chat with her and laugh.
He had a great Christmas although I am sure he doesn’t know what is was about or even knows how much stuff he actually got. He loves his little ball with the holes in it, the new play mat Gram got him, and he can sit upright in his Bebe Pod playing with the spinning monkey and bird toy Santa put in his stocking. He can hold his head up and sit upright supported. When he is lying down, he tries to pull himself up by lifting his head up. He likes being upright rather than laying down. Gram said he rolled over from back to tummy on January 5th at 9:06pm. Daddy and I were out to dinner so we missed it! He has yet to do it again by himself; he can do it with a little push though! Vince is much better about pushing himself up while on his tummy. He can push up all the way and look around before getting too angry.
Vince had two major outings this month. He went to his friend Gannon’s 1st Birthday party on January 3rd. On Friday the 4th we went downtown to visit Daddy at work.
Right now Vince is looking at me while I am typing up here on the couch. He is down on his playmat. I have never had anyone look at me the way he does. I could just melt each time our eyes lock. A mother’s love for her child is absolutely amazing and totally indescribable!
Matt and I have taken baths with Vince in our bath tub a few times. He seemed to like it and so did we. He has become more ‘baby like’ in that he will cry if he doesn’t like something and his little lower lip with just stick out and he will start to wail. It is so cute!
He is becoming more aware of his surroundings and looks at the dogs and cat as they walk by. He can turn his head in the direction of sounds. We are going to try and start nap times in the crib here soon. Vince was sick a few weeks ago and I didn’t want to start him on something new while he was sick. Both of us were sick actually and despite him not feeling well, he would still laugh and smile! Such a trooper!
We love to read Sandra Boynton books to him. He has about 9 Sandra Boynton books and Mommy and Daddy seem to enjoy them as much as he does. Today while reading them, he tried turning the page! He actually turned two pages himself!! Such a genius ;)

1/17/2008

Vince helped Daddy celebrate his 33rd birthday last week! Vince had his 4 month doctor appt on Monday the 14th and Matt went with us. I made Matt hold him down this time when he got his shots. I just can’t do it! Matt teared up just like I did last time. The nurse tells you to talk to him and tell him it’s okay while she is giving him the shots, but I have such a huge lump in my throat I can’t get anything out. Tears my heart everytime. My friends say that is doesn’t get any easier either. On a happier note, Vince is just growing and changing everyday! He saw me drinking out of my glass yesterday and seemed quite interested in it. He reached out for it and grab it, so I tipped it down towards his mouth so he could have a sip of water. He took two sips just fine! Soon he will be drinking from his own sippy cup. Vince rolled over on Friday Jan. 11th all by himself. He did it once for Gram and Gramp and I was not there so this time I was! He did it in front of his friend Piper, probably showing off for her =)

2/7/08

Well it’s been quite a while since I have written. Motherhood has got the best of me it seems! What can I say; Vince is just cuter and smarter than ever! He absolutely loves his Belly Button book by Sandra Boynton. Whenever I say “Bee-Bo” (which is the way you say belly button in Hippo lingo) he laughs hysterically. He really enjoys that book. He claps his hands together and grabs for things that are out in front of him, including the phone when I am on it and holding him at the same time. He does this super cute scratchy hand thing where he rakes his hand across objects or himself. He did it across his belly and he looked like a little fat man scratching his belly! Vince still loves to grab at my cup while I am drinking and I give him sips of my water from time to time. I could be creating a habit, but oh well. It’s amazing how much he has grown and changing. Such a little baby boy now! He’ll fling his arms around, rattle toys like crazy, and roll over when he feels like it. He tries to sit up while laying down so it looks like he is doing baby crunches. When we do have him upright, he can sit by himself for maybe a second or two before toppling over! He really notices Roxie and Oliver now. He likes when Roxie gives him kisses! He is still gurgling while on his back. He just can’t figure out why he can’t make that sound while being upright! He also started this very annoying grunting sound that sounds like he is pooping. He will go on and on forever with this sound and it does get on Mommy and Daddy’s nerve!! At least he is being vocal and trying new sounds =)
Vincent also loves to give kisses. I’ll say “Mommy is going to give you a kiss!” Then I kiss his cheek. Then I say “Now give Mommy a kiss!” and I put his mouth up to my cheek. He opens his mouth really wide and slobbers me. It’s so cute! He will even get excited sometimes while he does this and fail his body back and forth due to so much excitement!!
